Achivements.....

It was 4 in the evening. I was sitting opposite a lady I guess in her thirty but still luks pretty gorgeous. I was being interviewed for the company when suddenly she asks me a very simple question, “ tell me your achievements”. At first it seems a simple question but a second thought just crawled my mind....does I really have any achievements yet. My mind answered immediately no. She asked me again, “tell me you have mentioned many in your CV which one is the best...”. I immediately replied,  “none” . she was shocked, ”None... how could this be possible. You have mentioned them in your Cv”. I replied politely, “ I guess they are mere experience  but not the achievements .. i haven’t achieved anything i must proud off..”. “ how could” she replied “ how could this be possible?  you are  20+ and still you haven’t achieved anything so far or are you nothing but a damn loser”. “ you are misinterpreting me, mam “. “and how so”, she asked with a big smile on her face. “ I replied, “ I was born in a traditional middle class family, brought up like a simple average boy. At the age of 3 I was sent to a local school. During my school days I was an average student, I even played many games and actively participated in various activities but always rated as an average boy. After completing my school, I was confused ,  ‘Now what to do...’, so as an average student  I joined the coaching thinking that  now I have enough time to know myself. The year passed in  a flash and later I found myself standing in a corridor of an engineering college.  There also I was an average student some time even below average. I always dream to leave this band  of averageness  and jump high enough to be praised, but the effort were not enough to provide me sufficient boost, and finally I remained average. So how could an average man have some achievements.”  She was still smiling looking on me, she pick up my cv and read it thoroughly. There was a complete silent for a while. Then she broke the silence and ask me  about my hobbies and the interview  continues..
Later on the same day when I was travelling back to my city, the same thought again strikes my mind. I called few of my friend and asked them what their achievements are. They all replied the same as I have mentioned in my CV. I asked them individually is these  your real achievements to which they reply, “ yes, so far they can fetch us a job, and even the HR knows we will lie but still he ask it. What that means”.
I have no answer for that true question.  But still  I am searching the right answer to the question what my achievements are? Hope someday I will  get the answer....

  2. Super work Prashant...
Even I beleive, that what is done becomes experience. One can learn from it, to achieve new highs, but the moment one starts counting them as achievements, that is the time when has lost faith in him to achieve more.

People may argue the fact that one needs to look behind to do a self test in order to judge oneself. May be at some point of time in life one can sit and count his "achievements", but that definitely is not the time now. Now is the time to step ahead and achieve and let others do the counting.... for now!
